Arunachal inks MoU with NDDB to start ‘White Revolution’
AHMEDABAD, Jan 10: Arunachal Pradesh is all set to kick-
While Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin signed on behalf of the state government,
NDDB was represented by its Chairman Dilip Rath. Also present during the signing
ceremony were Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism P D Sona, Principal Secretary Satyagopal
and Secretary to CM Sonam Chombay. As per the MoU, NDDB will conduct a survey related
to milk production and consumption and identify areas of intervention in Arunachal
Pradesh. Based on the survey, the Board will prepare a comprehensive five-
NDDB will also provide technical support in terms of establishment of dairy infrastructure, cattle feed and mineral mixture plant etc besides providing training and capacity building of farmers, executives, leaders, supervisors, dairy technicians, etc.
Mineral mapping of the state will also be done to find out the status of mineral deficiency in soil and based on that the Board will formulate composition of area specific mineral mixture.
NDDB began its operations with the mission of making dairying a vehicle to a better future for millions of grassroots milk producers. The mission achieved thrust and direction with the launching of "Operation Flood", a programme extending over 26 years and which used World Bank loan to finance India's emergence as the world's largest milk producing nation. Operation Flood's third phase was completed in 1996 and has to its credit a number of significant achievements.
The Anand model of Amul fame, adopted by NDDB, has been immensely successful as it involves people in their own development through cooperatives where professionals are accountable to leaders elected by producers.

the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Government of Gujarat, as
a part of the Investment Promotion Activity for Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-
With an objective to encourage commercial and economic cooperation between both the states, the MoU paves way for the GIDC to facilitate Department of Industries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, to obtain necessary permissions, registrations, approvals, clearances, etc from concerned departments of Gujarat as per existing policies, rules and regulations of the state government.
NDDB was set up in 1965 with the basic objective of replicating the famous Amul model throughout the country.

All India Football Federation's (AIFF) ambitious Grassroots Programme throughout
Arunachal Pradesh in phase-
The first phase of the programme will be launched in Capital Complex under the guidance of AIFF's Grassroots Programme Director Anju Turambekar, informed APFA general secretary Kipa Ajay. Registration of children for the programme will start on January 11 at APFA office, Naharlagun.
Grassroots football is for boys and girls between 6-
Further, APFA is organizing a seminar on football refereeing on January 14 at Naharlagun as part of football development as well as promotion of refereeing in the state.
AIFF's Referee Chairman Gautam Kar will chair the meeting and give detailed information regarding referee structures and registration; Ajay informed and sought participation of all the District Sports Officers, presidents and secretaries of District Football Associations, coaches, referees and senior players in the meeting.

Manipur and Tripura. Taipodia bagged 5th position in the recently held Senior National
Bodybuilding Championship-

‘Philanthropic will needed for TAH to materialize’
ZIRO, Jan 10: Commissioner GA/DA and Education, Hage Kojeen said that a philanthropic will is required from the denizens of Lower Subansiri district for Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) to see the light of the day. He was speaking in the meeting of HoDs convened at the conference Hall of a hotel in Hapoli on Tuesday.
"Good connectivity in terms of road and air will propel the economy of this area. Local officers should mobilise and motivate the public and land owners to relax land compensation claims for speedy implementation of the projects," he added while referring to the delayed TAH construction and civilian terminal project at ALG, Ziro.
He also took stock of various infrastructural projects and flagship programmes and schemes under various departments. Emphasizing on the need to improve work culture amongst people, he directed HoDs to strictly adhere to biometric attendance for the staff. NAAM Foundation to build school in Arunachal
THANE, Jan 10: The NAAM Foundation, established by actors Nana Patekar and Makrand Anaspure has decided to extend its activities to other states, including Arunachal Pradesh, and will be building schools there for children of defence personnel killed in action.

In its representation submitted to the Chief Engineer, RWD, PMGSY CEO, ARRDA RWD, it claimed that the estimates of PMGSY schemes are often 100 times more than that of the actual cost of the work done.
The amount shown in the estimates and sanctioned so far could have covered 10kms per scheme but have been sanctioned for just 2 to 3kms per estimation and approved scheme, it maintained further adding that estimates are prepared by the works department in connivance with the elected legislators and are only awarded to their kith and kin.
Ringu clinches silver in National School Games
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Ringu Tara of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Polo Colony became the first boxer from the state to win a silver medal in National School Games.
Ringu, son of Ringu Kanu of Kurung Kumey district, presently residing at Karsingsa, achieved the feat in the recently held 62nd National School Games (Boxing) at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh from December 24 to 29 last. Arunachal Pradesh had clinched a bronze medal in boxing in the previous National School Games. The school team was led by instructor cum team manager Tenzing Chogyal.
Meeting on celebration of National Voters’ Day
ROING, Jan 10: A district consultative committee meeting of various HoDs/EROs/AEROs/admin officers/ principals/NGOs/BLOs was convened at the Anchal Samity Hall here on Tuesday, to discuss various issues relating to celebration of National Voters' Day (NVD) on Jan 25 next.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC, Chesta Yadav informed that various programme like drawing competition/essay competition and awareness campaigns will be conducted at secondary level schools in the district to create awareness among masses on NVD. While emphasizing on more participation of young voters, she directed all BLOs to submit the list of newly registered election card by Jan 22 next.
Meanwhile, ADC along with CO (Election), Mary N Taloh took part in an interactive session programme at VKV Roing as a part of activities under NVD.
The meeting was attended by EACs, NK Namchoom, Rebecca Tayeng and J Umpo, CO, HoDs, school principal, BLOs and other officials.

PMSMA launched
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner, Tai Kaye, who also is the Chairman of District Health Society, on Monday last, launched the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) at Tomo Riba Institute of Hospital and Medical Science (TRIHMS), Naharlagun.
The PMSMA is a new initiative of the Narendra Modi Government aimed at boosting the
health care facilities for pregnant women, especially the poor. Pregnant women will
be given free health check-
Speaking on the occasion, the DC called upon the health officials for effective implementation of the programme to achieve its main objective.
District RCH Officer, Dr. J Ado highlighted on the aims and objective of PMSMA through PowerPoint presentation while, DMO Dr. T Kampu appealed to all the health workers to take part in the programme to provide quality ANC to dropped out or missed pregnant women in routine ANC.
Medical Superintendent, Dr. D Raina said that there will be special ANC clinic on every 9th of month besides daily routine ANC in the hospital.
Gynaecologist Head of Dept. of Obs & Gynae, Dr. B Mala also spoke during the programme and assured to have special ANC in the hospital with adequate logistics.
Earlier, a total of 32 Ante Natal Checkups were done during the day at TRIHMS, Naharlagun.
The PMSMA has also been launched in all the health facilities (CHCs/PHCs) of the district.
DIPRO adds from Bomdila: District Health Society, West Kameng launched the PMSMA at District Hospital Bomdila on Monday last. On the day of launching the programme, six missed out and dropped out pregnant women from Bomdila and Rupa block underwent antenatal check up and laboratory investigation. They were also given Iron folic acid tablets and vaccinated with Tetanus Toxide (TT) injection. They also underwent ultrasonography screening to determine the size and position of the foetus.
NYP training PwSAs in 21 states

With the conviction of making the PwSAs part of nation building process, the present central Govt. formed Skill Development Ministry and Social Justice and Empowerment Department in 2016 and empanelled 27 NGOs, including NYP to take up the works, NYP trustee H P Biswas earlier said.
The NYP has been training PwSAs in 21 states, including in Arunachal since 2008 and so far has trained 3,640 while this year's target is 783, Biswas said, adding that NYP has collaborated with Gandhi Smriti Darshan (GSD).
The traditional attires and beads once selected would be sold in GSD emporium and those trained could be suppliers to earn a decent livelihood, Biswas said.
He regretted that though the state has over 33,000 PwSAs but hardly 20% of them have disability certificate, essential for availing Govt. benefits. But the state lacks initiative, inadequate doctors and infrastructure to meet the goal. He advised the trainees to be committed during training to receive Rs 5,000 in two instalments in their bank account only with 80% attendance.
Traditional fashion designer as master trainer Nana Gona also demonstrated her creative traditional dresses and beads on the occasion.
IMC suspends parking charges
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The collection of vehicle parking charges in all notified areas within the jurisdiction of Itanagar Municipal Council has been suspended w.e.f. January 1, 2017.
"No parking fees shall be collected by any agencies in the name of IMC till further order," Chief Municipal Executive Officer Itanagar Municipal Council said in an order.
Sarok greetings
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Arunachal Pradesh Governor, V Shanmuganathan has greeted the people of the state on the festive occasion of Sarok. He expressed hope that the festivity will usher in peace and harmony for all and good harvest in the year ahead.

Stalemate between ITW and govt continues
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The stalemate between Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITW) and the authority continues as the indefinite 'whistle down' strike entered day two on Tuesday. So far the authority did not react on the current agitation. In a statement ITW stated, "Despite giving six years of dedicated service, we still do not have our jobs secured".
The agitating traffic wardens vowed to continue their agitation until the state government fulfil their demands. ITW have been demanding for equal pay for equal job and enhancement of salary, regularization of jobs, promotional opportunities along with job security. "If the state government wants us to stop our ensuing whistle down strike, they must come up with a mechanism," ITW further added.
T20 Christmas Trophy begins
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The Nirjuli Cricket Club won the opening match of the 6th Running T20 Christmas Trophy organized by Ganga Youth Club here on Monday last.
The team defeated Police Colony Cricket Club by 32 runs.

Creator of cartoon series 'Green Humour', Rohan involved the students in fun filled interactive session and shared information related to the rich biodiversity, wildlife and related conservation issues in a simplified manner.
RFO Tippi Wildlife Range, Kime Rambia briefed the students on how cartoons are being used nowadays to convey messages in a humorous or satirical way and how cartooning can be taken up as a hobby or as serious career choice.

Compulsory use of GPS in schemes execution stressed
YINGKIONG, Jan 10: The Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner, Remo Kamki has called for compulsory use of GPS in execution of the schemes to avoid duplicity of works.

Social worker no more
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The All Kra Daadi District Students Union (AKDDSU) has deeply mourned the demise of social worker Byabang Gyani of Radang Village under Kra Daadi district.
Late Byabang Gyani is survived by three sons and a daughter.
In a release, AKDDSU president, Gora Rikam remembered Late Gyani as a selfless social worker who worked for the development of Palin Circle. He had also generously donated his land for the establishment of Middle school in his native village Langdung, stated the AKDDSU president while terming his demise as a great loss to the society.

They will also provide technical support in terms of establishment of dairy infrastructure, cattle feed and mineral mixture plant etc. The state government has taken a good step by deciding to participate in the summit. If Arunachal has to truly progress, the government will have to look for various source to generate own revenue and stop dependency on central fund. The best ways to generate own source will be to look for private investment. The occasion like Vibrant Gujarat summit where hundreds of world class companies are participating provides an opportunity to showcase what Arunachal can offer to them. Government of Arunachal should look out for more such opportunities in future. The people also need to change their outlook. For private investment to come, the citizen will have to play a crucial role. They need to create a healthy atmosphere. Unless there is friendly atmosphere no private companies will invest in the state. For their part government should make sure that locals are not neglected by these private companies. One of the major complaints of project affected/land donor of various hydropower projects is the utter neglect of locals by the hydropower developers. If the locales are not made stakeholders they will definitely turn hostile.

Leaders stay in the heart of public
Dear Editor,
Every parent loves their children but not every grown up child loves back their parent. But when they do, that's a very beautiful phenomenon. It's very consoling to learn that the new state govt. has recently, formally acknowledged the works and contributions of late Bakin Pertin towards the people of the state.
Here in Arunachal, Dr. BR Ambedkar and late Pertin(among a few more others ) always seemed to be belonging to the same category of the "forgotten heroes". Ambedkar as the chief architect of the Indian constitution bestowed on us, as Scheduled Tribes citizen of India, much of the privileges, rights and protection. Born himself into a lower class dalit Hindu family and suffering the pain of discrimination and subjugation, his commitment to uplift the lower class sections of our country is undeniable, unflinching. However, unlike other parts of the country, for us, he is just a 'Doctor'. We even completely forgot to pay our homage. Not even a single Primary school or atleast a Law college bears the name of the person who had been our guardian, our liberator.
However, it’s immensely pleasant to know that as a mark of respect to the life and works of Late Bakin Pertin towards the people of the state, the new state cabinet under the leadership of Pema Khandu has approved of the renaming of the Pasighat General Hospital after him. Politicians come and go, but leaders stay in the hearts of people forever. Hope under the leadership of Khandu, Arunachal enters into a newer age of progress.

Development should be inclusive
Dear Editor,
This is in response to a letter published on dated 10th of Jan, 2017, by Mr. Marli Kamki, where he so eloquently discussed the prospective gains from building dams in Arunachal such as creation of jobs, generation of revenue, infrastructure developments among others. The fallacy in his paper was the fact that he only looked at the gains from these dams (which are far from assured to being with) and not the effect widely associated with these “development activities".
Notwithstanding the environmental clearance which these dams have failed to gain
till 2015 with further time given to them, there is a clear existential danger to

While Mr. Kamki did well in citing state of Sikkim for the progression made in cultivating hydro power but a basic research will show that the local stakeholders were denied their right to voice their dissent to the same and the very same dams were built with the ulterior motive of gaining carbon credits.
There are ample examples of mass displacement in India under the banner of development but we should look at what cost these comes? The Land Acquisition Act, 2013 though with good intention was drafted; there has been lack of trust and inclusiveness of the affected people in these development activities. What guarantees we get that our unemployed youths will be given jobs by these dam constructing companies? What will happen of the people being displaced? If we haven’t learnt any lesson from the cases like Narmada Bachao Andolan, Protest by the local fishermen in coastal Andhra Pradesh over Nuclear Plant etc, it is about time we do. Development in our state is must and most required and welcomed if I might add, but it is should be INCLUSIVE. We need to be the first to bear its fruit.

Dear Editor,
This is with regards to a letter titled “The mystery behind the Arunachal CM Bungalow” by one Rajkumar Jhanjhari which was published in your daily. Let me be brutally honest at the very outset, the letter written by Rajkumar was nothing but a way to promote vastu thing in Arunachal by directly targeting CM bungalow to gather maximum attention of innocent people of Arunachal.
Furthermore, he attempted to show superiority of VASTU over other pujas and rituals. So basically he is countering superstition by giving his notion of superstition.
